An understated lobby design inspired by the graceful wonder of flight, evokes a weightless sense of light and optimism.
L2 Studios designers provided a complete lobby renovation at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott, on the grounds of Dulles International Airport and steps away from Eero Saarinen’s iconic terminal building.
Just as the hotel’s low-rise structures do not overwhelm their idyllic surroundings or detract from the architecture of the Saarinen terminal, the understated design of the lobby invites guests to bring their own color and vibrancy, celebrating the diversity of today’s travelers. Framed by pristine white columns and warm wood features bathed in soft architectural lighting, the inviting gathering space offers comfortable and varied seating configurations, soft neutral tones, and sweeping views of nature, providing guests an engaging refuge from a day of travel.
Clean, sinuous lines, inspired by the graceful wonder of flight and the playful currents of the Potomac River, establish a connection between earth and sky and evoke a weightless sense of light, ascension, and optimism.
